At QURA, we believe filmmaking cannot be learned from a textbook. Our curriculum is built around a simple but powerful model. immerse you in the real filmmaking process from day one. Every morning is theory and film language. Every afternoon is practical production. You work with real cameras, real sound equipment, and real editing stations alongside award-winning, industry-seasoned faculty.

This is not a passive course. It is an intensive, hands-on experience where you make films, receive mentor feedback, and build a portfolio that speaks louder than any certificate. By the end of 11 months, you will have completed six productions. from documentaries to your final narrative short film.

What You'll Learn

Six Pillars of Filmmaking

Every filmmaker at QURA trains across all core disciplines. You won't just specialize. you'll understand the entire craft.

Screenwriting & Story

Learn story structure, character development, dialogue craft, and screenplay formatting from concept to final draft.

Direction & Blocking

Master visual storytelling, working with actors, performance extraction, and on-set leadership.

Cinematography & Lighting

Camera operations, composition, color theory, lighting setups, and developing your unique visual language.

Editing & Post-Production

Assembly, pacing, dialogue cleanup, color grading, DI workflows, and delivering a finished film.

Production Sound & Music

Production sound, Foley, ambient recording, clean dialogue capture, and working with music directors.

Production & Industry

Planning, budgeting, scheduling, festival strategy, distribution, and building your career in the industry.

The Journey

Months 1–2

Foundations

Still photography, composition, framing. Introduction to cinema language, visual grammar, and how to see like a filmmaker.

Months 3–5

Building Blocks

Moving image, continuity, dialogue scenes. Documentary techniques and interview craft. Cameras, sound, and editing become your daily tools.

Months 6–8

Applied Craft

Documentary production, music videos, ad filmmaking with AI tools, and advanced post-production. Your highest period of creative output.

Months 9–11

The Final Film

Write, shoot, and complete post-production on your 10-minute narrative short film. This is your thesis. the film you take into the world.

A filmmaker, film critic, media scholar, and gender activist with over 32 years of experience in media education. A two-time Fulbright Fellow, she has held leadership roles at LV Prasad Film & TV Academy, Loyola College, and the Asian College of Journalism.

Abhishikta Kaila

An award-winning editor and SRFTI graduate. On-set editor with director Abhishek Chaubey on the Netflix series Killer Soup. Has assisted National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad on various theatrical and media projects.

Director of Photography on Gargi (2022) and The Feast (2024). Best Visual Storytelling at IFFLA. Emmy-nominated for India's Forbidden Love. Documentary Auto Queens premiered at IDFA. Has worked with VICE, Al Jazeera, and Discovery.

Over 15 years spanning live concerts, broadcast, and game audio. Former Head of Audio Engineering at Bridge Academy, Chennai. Currently Live Sound Engineer with Media Pro International, Dubai. Expert in L-Acoustics, Dante, and leading DAWs.

Cinematographer

Sharanya Chander

Trained under ace DOP Nirav Shah. Worked on Enthiran 2.0, Super Deluxe, and Sita Ramam. Shot Coke Studio Tamil and the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Member of the Indian Women Cinematographer Collective.
